Nascenzi Named Public Relations Coordinator at RSU
Nicole Nascenzi has been named public relations coordinator at Rogers State University.
Previously, Nascenzi worked for more than seven years as a reporter for the Tulsa World, covering a number of beats including breaking news, business and health care.
As a business writer, she researched and wrote articles on agriculture, technology, telecommunications, finance, bankruptcy and retail. She also covered medical and health issues, including recent changes to the Medicare prescription drug plan. She wrote an award-winning, four-part series on AIDS and HIV in Oklahoma while following a long-term AIDS survivor for more than six months.
She also has served as an adjunct communications faculty member at the University of Tulsa and adviser for the TU student newspaper.
This year, she is serving as president-elect of the Tulsa professional chapter of the Association for Women in Communications and is a board member for the Oklahoma Pro Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists.
She has received a variety of journalism honors and awards, including the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Oklahoma Medical Media Champion of Year Award, , which she will receive this month in Oklahoma City. The award is for her coverage of AIDS and HIV issues for the Tulsa World.. In addition, she was named Oklahoma Small Business Administration Reporter of the Year in 2005 and Tulsa Metro Chamber Small Business Journalist of the Year in 2004.
She received a bachelor's degree in philosophy from TU, including a certificate in women's studies and minors in English and graphic design. Presently, she is working on a master's degree in communication at Oklahoma State University.
