RSU Public Safety Officer Receives Law Enforcement Honor
A Rogers State University public safety officer has been recognized by area lawmen as the 2002 Rogers County Officer of the Year.
Shane Reynolds, who patrols RSU's Claremore campus during the weekend night shifts, was recognized by the Rogers County Law Enforcement Association during its annual meeting on Saturday. Reynolds also serves as a deputy/field supervisor for the Rogers County Sheriff's Office.
Reynolds, a 1992 graduate of Sequoyah High School in Claremore, received his associate's degree in criminal justice from RSU in 1994. He graduated from the Oklahoma Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training (CLEET) academy in 1996, and he has worked in law enforcement with the Rogers County Sheriff's Office and the City of Vinita Police Department.
"We're pleased that Shane was recognized with this honor by his peers," said Gary Boergermann, RSU director of campus public safety. "I think his award reflects well not only on the professionalism of our officers, but also to the effectiveness of the university's criminal justice program."
Reynolds has been employed as a part-time campus public safety officer with RSU since May.
