DEPARTMENT OF FINE ARTS Music ProgramThe music program at Rogers State University provides an opportunity for students to hone their instrumental and performance skills in a university environment. With a minor in music now available, RSU offers a selection of academic music classes each semester, in addition to the four ensembles now in the curriculum. We are happy to have each of the ensembles open to community members and area high school students in addition to RSU students. Each of the ensembles may be taken for one credit or with the zero credit option, where there is no charge to sign up for the class. ScholarshipsA limited number of music scholarships are available for students interested in participating in various RSU music ensembles. Jazz BandJazz band performances are held in the Centennial Center and the Will Rogers Auditorium on the RSU campus in Claremore, as well as area public schools and other community venues in northeast Oklahoma. The Jazz Ensemble primarily plays big band swing jazz as well as a variety of other jazz styles. Concert BandThe newest ensemble at RSU, the Concert Band is continuing to grow each semester. The Concert Band performs during the first part of the fall semester and the second half of the spring semester, before and after the RSU Pep Band begins to play for the basketball season each year. The band plays a variety of wind band literature and is open to the community. Pep BandThe pep band will consist of 10-25 members, who will play all the typical instruments of the indoor athletic pep band. The band will play at home games of the RSU men's and women's basketball program, and other campus events.
